Troy DeFeo
Pastor
About
Troy DeFeo is a native resident of Garland, TX. As a Junior in High School, he was introduced to a ministry called Young Life. During a weekend retreat with Young Life at Pine Cove Ranch in 1989, Troy surrendered his life to Jesus as his Lord and Savior. At that time, not realizing what God was doing, Troy was called to the ministry.
Troy graduated from Texas Tech University in 1995 with a degree in Family Studies, Counseling, and Substance Abuse Addiction. During his time at Texas Tech, he was involved in a variety of ministries like Young Life, Campus Crusade, and the Navigators. During his last two years, he discipled many college students each week to build a core leadership team for future ministry endeavors. While also completing his counseling practicum at McKenzie Junior High (working solely with a Satanic Cult), Troy worked full-time at Lubbock’s Buckner Children’s Residential Treatment Facility for troubled, abused, and gang-related teens. This is where Troy’s calling really took a turn in ministry.
Troy was part of a couple of church plants over the years, including the restructuring from Lyons Road Baptist into Living Hope Baptist Church. He has been on staff since 1998. From 2007 to 2023, Troy worked full-time for Garland ISD as an educator while serving on staff at Living Hope. Pastor Troy has been recognized as an award-winning educator by his home school, Junior Achievement of Dallas, and Garland Power and Light, and was named Teacher Superstar of the Year in 2020 by Governor Greg Abbott during the COVID pandemic.
Troy has served as the Pastor of Living Hope since July 2014. He enjoys pastoring, counseling, and writing books and curriculum on a variety of topics. Troy is the author of four books: One Day- 100 Day Devotional, Kruptos Hamartia-Sacred Sins, Leaving Your Harbor for Heaven, and an exegetical study of the book of Revelation called From Jerusalem to Jerusalem. Troy has written many marriage seminar curricula and has been teaching Monday night Q&A topical Bible studies at his church.
Troy is also the founder of One Day Ministries: Consulting and Pastoral Care, where he assists people, businesses, and especially churches in times of crisis. Troy also works as a Private Investigator for one of the largest private investigator firms in the United States in the DFW area (which happens to be Christian-based).
