Welcome, middle and high schoolers!
We gather in the Youth Room each morning at 9:30 am during Connect Groups. Then head to the Worship Service at 10:30 am and join everyone in the Sanctuary.
We meet in the Fellowship Hall at p:00 pm on Wednesday evenings. Each week there are varying activities. We usually play games and have a prayer time, but it is always a fun and relaxed time of fellowship.
The Youth Room is in the West Wing Hall close to the door.
3 Strong points that we try to focus on in our Youth Ministry at LHBC.
is a word we as Christians like to throw around a lot. We use it for all kinds of meanings such as teaching the Bible, or having small groups, or explaining to people what it means to be a Christian. Discipleship in its truest form is action. Our goal is not to just talk about the Bible, or just talk about what Jesus did for us, or just talk about what it means to be a Christian; but we want to live those disciplines out. That means teaching how to treat each other the way Christ wanted us too. That means living out what God has asked us to do. That means that we don’t just tell other people what being a Christian is; it means that we show them by being living examples. Discipleship is as much the students learning as it is us as leaders living out all of these truths right in front of them. Our goal in the LHBC Youth Group is to team with you as parents to nurture these students into better and more prepared men and women in Christ.
it is a long word and I think it should be due to all of the many things it covers. Selflessness is loving other people, respecting other people, putting other people first, and taking the time to care about how other people feel. It is allowing God to be first and you to always be second, it is putting your own self aside and putting God’s plans first, it is understanding, accepting, and living out the fact that you should always be thinking about others before yourself. I think we could all agree that selflessness is something that as a nation and as a world that we currently struggle with. In just America you can see people as only care about what is going on with them, or are willing to take other people down as long it helps them rise up. You can see our nation struggle with entitlement, thinking that we deserve whatever we want because we ourselves are more important than others. As Christians we are asked to be the complete opposite of this. We are asked to instead put others first just as Christ put us first. This is something that I think is super important for students to understand and do. Everything God asks us to do starts with Selflessness.
for everyone is key. We strive to keep the students accountable with things they struggle with or could work on. The students should also strive to keep us accountable on the same things. More importantly though we want the students to grow and to be able to keep themselves accountable. This is not something that is easy to do but is an important skill to have as a Christian. Being able to keep yourself accountable is the start of being able to keep others accountable. And keeping others accountable is a great step towards discipling others. We hope to help students be aware of where they are in their walk with Christ and how they can use where they are to start sharing the Gospel through words or action.
